The ooze is the distillate at the core melting toward the cherry as the joint burns. Because distillate has a different burn temperature than flower, it doesn't combust at the same rate — instead, the heat from the burning flower causes the distillate to liquefy and drip toward the lit end, where it then burns off as you pull.

Visually, it looks like the joint is leaking. It's not a defect — it's the design. The ooze is what concentrates the experience and what gives Hash Holes their name.

A few practical notes:
• Burn it upright when you can. Holding the joint vertically (cherry-down) helps the ooze flow toward the burn rather than the unburned end.
• Don't be alarmed if it runs. Some Hash Holes ooze more visibly than others depending on the distillate viscosity and strain. Either way, it's working as intended.
• Have a clean ashtray ready. Hash Holes can drip when set down — the surface should be able to handle a little residue.

A few things worth knowing on your first one:

• Smoke it slow. The distillate at the core hits harder than the surrounding flower. Pacing yourself prevents getting deeper than you intended.
• Hold the lighter steady at the tip. Hash Holes light a little differently than standard joints because of the concentrate — let it catch evenly rather than over-torching it.
• Plan for it to last. Most riders smoke a Hash Hole across two or three sessions. Save a roach clip or stash tube for the rest.
• Wait between pulls. Especially as you get closer to the core, give each pull 15-20 minutes to land before going further.

• Below 70°F is ideal — a drawer, a cabinet, anywhere away from heat sources
• Store flat or upright in original packaging to keep the distillate centered. If a Hash Hole sits on its side in a warm spot, the distillate can shift to one end
• Avoid direct sunlight — UV and heat together accelerate distillate breakdown
• Don't refrigerate or freeze — temperature swings cause condensation, which can mess with the burn
